Your Money Headin’ Down The Road

Remember the Texas Department of Transportation plan to use $9 million of your money to convince you to quit worrying and love the TransTexas Corridor? Well, it's still going on, but now one of the Texas Taxpayer Heroes is stepping up to ask the Legislature to study the propriety of such an activity.

State Rep. Ken Paxton (R-McKinney) announced this week that he wants the Legislature to "research the use of public money for advertising government programs." Why? Because "the Legislature has a responsibility to ensure that state resources are spent efficiently."

It's that approach to state spending that earned Ken Paxton a 100 percent rating on the TFR Fiscal Responsibility Index.

A final bit of commonsense from the gentleman from McKinney: "I believe the government should not spend the money raised from taxpayers to lobby the public."
