Dustin Matocha serves as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer for Empower Texans.
Dustin was born and raised in Bastrop, TX. He played baseball throughout his childhood and became a three-year letterman on the Bastrop High School varsity baseball team. While in high school, Dustin took an interest in politics and became active in the Bastrop County Republican Party. At age 18, he became a delegate to the 2008 State Republican Convention.
Dustin attended the University of Texas at Austin in the fall of 2008, where he earned a BBA in Management, a BA in Government, and a minor in Marketing. He became active in the Young Conservatives of Texas as soon as he arrived on campus and became the Chapter Chairman at the end of his freshman year. He later served as a board member of the state organization and was presented with the Chairman’s Award in 2013.
Dustin was also initiated into the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity as a freshman, and later served as pledge educator, vice-president, and president during his active status. He officially became an alumni and a Texas Ex in May of 2012.
While in college, Dustin interned with the Travis County Republican Party and the Office of the Governor before interning with Empower Texans / Texans for Fiscal Responsibility in June of 2010. He became the Social Media Coordinator in January of 2011 before taking over as Executive Director in the fall of 2013.
Dustin is a self-described Corvette enthusiast, baseball purist, tech geek, growing connoisseur of local craft beer, and diehard Orangeblood.
