Data Manager

Empower Texans is looking for a highly motivated individual who thrives working within systems and loves working with data to take on the role of Data Manger. This position would be the bridge between our development team, operations, and communications.

This person will work closely with our VP of Development and other development associates in a supporting role, ensuring timely processing of donations, generating analytical reports, and conducting supplemental research projects.

They will also work closely with the Chief Operations Officer to maintain the Empower Texans database, providing clean and accurate data to facilitate synchronization and integration with our other digital platforms.

They must be tech-savvy (no coding experience necessary), and a quick learner.

Qualifications:

– A love of systems, both creating new ones and optimizing existing ones
– Methodical and detail-oriented workstyle
– Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize
– Strong self-starter with the ability to foresee and tackle tasks before they are assigned
– Previous Salesforce (or similar database management software) experience preferred

This will be a full-time position based out of our Austin headquarters. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Rio Grande Valley Correspondent

Empower Texans is looking for a self-motivated individual to fill the role of RGV Correspondent for Texas Scorecard. Duties include traveling across the Rio Grande Valley (Hidalgo and Cameron Counties) reporting on state and local events and representing the organization at meetings of liberty-minded groups.

Applicants must believe in the principles of limited government, personal liberty, and an empowered citizenry.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of politics and government at the local level
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule with irregular work hours
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Strong organizational, writing, and computer skills
  • Strong interest in journalism, fact-finding, and public speaking
  • Must live in the Rio Grande Valley or be willing to re-locate
  • Spanish fluency is a plus, but not a requirement
     

Primary Responsibilities:

The primary duty of the RGV Correspondent will be closely monitoring, investigating, and reporting the actions of local elected officials and government entities in the area. They will be expected to coordinate with grassroots activists and local organizations to promote conservative fiscal policies and elect principled conservatives to local office. Duties include attending school board, city council, and other meetings, writing articles for TexasScorecard.com, and speaking to conservative groups and organizations about Empower Texans’ work at the local level.

Compensation:

Metroplex Internship Program

Empower Texans is seeking individuals with a desire to learn more about local government and public policy to intern in our Metroplex office.

Responsibilities of Interns:

  • Support senior staff in the day-to-day operations of Metroplex office
  • Complete in-depth research projects
  • Manage various data entry projects
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Available to work 12 – 20 hours/week around
  • Self-motivated and highly organized individual
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Commitment to the organization’s missions

  • Support senior staff in the day-to-day operations of Austin office

  • Manage various data entry projects
  • Help write and edit website materials

Qualifications:

  • Available to work 12 – 20 hours/week around class schedule
  • Self-motivated and highly organized individual
