West Texas Correspondent

Empower Texans is looking for a self-motivated individual to fill the role of West Texas Correspondent, working alongside the Bureau Chief. Duties include traveling around Midland/Odessa, and occasionally surrounding areas, representing the organization at meetings of liberty-minded groups as well as reporting on state and local events for the Texas Scorecard.

Applicants must believe in the principles of limited government, personal liberty, and an empowered citizenry.

Qualifications of an ideal candidate include:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Self-motivated
  • Competent writing skills
  • Ability to work evenings and travel locally
  • Strong interest in journalism, fact-finding, research, public speaking
  • Positive attitude and strong social skills
  • Ability to work autonomously, with mentorship from Bureau Chief

This is a part-time position with the potential of becoming full-time. Compensation would be commensurate with experience.

Metroplex Internship Program

Empower Texans is seeking individuals with a desire to learn more about local government and public policy to intern in our Metroplex office.

Responsibilities of Interns:

  • Support senior staff in the day-to-day operations of Metroplex office
  • Complete in-depth research projects
  • Manage various data entry projects
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Available to work 12 – 20 hours/week around
  • Self-motivated and highly organized individual
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Commitment to the organization’s missions

Empower Texans is seeking individuals with a desire to learn more about Texas politics to intern in our Austin office.

Responsibilities of Interns:

  • Support senior staff in the day-to-day operations of Austin office
  • Complete in-depth research projects
  • Manage various data entry projects
  • Help write and edit website materials

Qualifications:

  • Available to work 12 – 20 hours/week around class schedule
  • Self-motivated and highly organized individual
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
