Shelby Hinna serves as the Executive Assistant for Empower Texans.
She is a native Texan, born and raised in Arlington, TX. She graduated from Lamar High School in 2017. During high school, Shelby spent her time shadowing various physicians through a pre-medical internship, cheering on the sidelines as the school’s varsity cheerleading captain, and attending YoungLife events.
Shelby now attends the University of Texas at Austin, where she is pursuing a BA in Government with a minor in Philosophy. She is an initiated member of Delta Delta Delta and serves on the sorority’s philanthropy committee. Shelby aides in coordinating fundraisers on behalf of Tri Delta to benefit their chosen philanthropy, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
She is a member of the UT chapter of Young Conservatives of Texas and Young Americans for Liberty. An extension of YAL, she also serves as a Local Coordinator for Students for Liberty, working with like-minded students from around the world to preserve and spread the ideals of individual and economic freedom.
While she had a passion for politics from a young age, Shelby pinpointed her devotion to preserving conservative values and individual liberty during her internship with State Rep. Jonathan Stickland. After interning in his Capitol office for about a year, Stickland hired her as a Legislative Aide for the 86th Texas Legislative Session. Throughout her time in his office, Shelby increasingly recognized the need for principled, passionate, God-fearing, and liberty-loving people in politics. Mid-session, Shelby changed her major from pre-med to government and dove headfirst into the world of politics.
